MADRID Grand Prix 12.08.2001 Neppies came finally to Spain and what a feeling! The premier WAS IN "The Arena" of La Berzosa, where the circuit designer, David, almost driver of "Silver Arrow", prepared an winding circuit with differents tramps which made enjoy and suffer to all the pilots which take part on the race in the evening-nigth, 12th August 2001. The circuit was composed by 2 impresionant jumps with pit (carton made), one chicane, and thre "tuheros" of high level difficult. Three pilots started with a little average from the rest because their experience in the first race in Helsinki, experience which was fundamental in two of the cases, David and Manu, but not in Isra´s case. The new pilots tested their finger hits with different luck before the start. Oscar (Menorca kid) showed he was ready for war, so it was Tony, Abraham (Metal man) and Rodrigo while Borjas stand watching the rival´s tactics and Peti and Laura face some difficults. And the race started, from the begining was already clear who were going to be the dominators of the competition, and those were the Mifunes who from the start to the end showed their acumulated experience.The great negative surprise was Isra, who with his "The Beer Hunter", and after exposed all his quality among the "Finnish Monsters" (and incredible Third position), felt defeaning until the 7th position unworthy of his quality. But the positive surprise came from the Great Oscar, who with his "AbarCAR" got the third position wich increases the hopes for further races. Fourth was Borjas, always proffesional, in the fifth place came Rodrigo, who got the average of playing at home and knew exactly the kind of sand, later came Toni in the 6th place who after being trapped in the first tramp, he madere a surprising recovery showing his cards for the future.In the 7th position came Isra with the deception in his face, in 8th Abraham who promised to rehersal more and be more competitive in the future, 9th Laura, trapped in the first jump wich condicioned her for the rest of the trace, but good technical skills could reach her in next races. 10th and last, Peti, from Barcelona who was not at the level of the incredible Catalan racers. But The fight for the head was the most amazing thing, the Mifunes in an inflamed strugglin for the first place, David all the race ahead and Manu behind. From one "neppi" to finish and magicaly, Manu get through David and takes the head of the Race with only a few centimeters for the goal, the most difficult was done, and the easier thing was to come, three neppis to get the first price on the trial to neppies world spanish championship. David, felt down in wich it was his race, couldn´t believe what had happened. But Manu´s turn comes hitting with security in the last curva, without taking risks, stopped on over 10 centimeters to the goal, everything was sentenced, but in the last hit, the most easy and important in her life, when the car was at 1 or 2 centimeters from the goal, the neppie tumble down and....¡¡¡keliii!!, over the goal line, this has been called "The Bergerot Effect", only equaled by Carlos Sainz in the RAC, hands on the head and David doesn´t forgive getiing the first place and becoming the first winner in Spanish Compettion...and in his birthday!
